Chapter 18: Mina has a dream that Papa will be cured with the help of the Indian Chief Custaleta. Chapter 19 is when Mina goes to get Lisette to stay with Papa while Mina gets Chief Custaleta to help Papa. In chapter 20 Papa is cured by Chief Custaleta.

Chapter 19 - In this chapter Papa is still sick and Mina goes to the Bickenbachs' cabin to get Lisette to watch over Papa. Mina told Lisette if she could watch over Papa while she goes to get the Shaman. Then Mina heads off to the indian camp to get the Shaman. She finds Amaya, who gets her dad, Chief Custaleta, to get the Shaman. The Shaman looks just like the indian in Mina's dream. I liked when Lisette agreed to watch Papa. I did not like when all the indians were looking at Mina.

Chapter 20 - This, the final chapter is about when Chief Costaleta and the Shaman were on their way to cure Papa. When they came inside Lisette was frightened. Then the Shaman sat down on the floor and took out different things to cure Papa. When he took out the ground up leaves, he told Mina to get "agua caliente" to add to the leaves to make tea for Papa. Papa awaken and Mina told him he needs to drink the tea to get better. He drank the tea and felt better. Days after that Lisette brought him a broth so he could get stronger and better. Then, one day Mina and Papa were working in the garden and Lisette came to the garden. She brought Mina a dress. When Mina came out from trying it on, Lisette bottoned it up. Then, Papa blurted out "Lisette, it is time we get married". Mina told Lisette to say "yes" and she did. Mina thought this was the beginning of their new family.

Chapter 17 - In this chapter Mina had been sent to live with the Kaufmann's. Then, Mrs. Kaufmann got sick and Mina was sent to live with the Bickenbach's. When she came inside their house, Lisette welcome and took her to their room. Lisette gave Mina her night gown because Mina's was too short for her. When Mina's father returned, he brought a milk cow. I like the friendship between Mina and Lisette, but did not like when Mrs. Kaufmann got sick.

Chapter 18 - Is about when Mina's dad came back and got sick. Mina went to call Dr. Schubert, but he did not come. Papa gets sicker as the time pass. Mina had a dream about seeing a glimmering indian. In the dream, she asked the indian if he can help Papa. This chapter is sad because of Papa's illness. I don't like that, but I liked when Mina met the glimmering indian in her dream.

Chapter 14 - This chapter is about when thy got to New Braunfels and see different houses. Thy meet John O. Meusebach. They asked him questions about the Verein and why did not come to get them. Then, they saw some Verein soldiers marching and singing. Then, Anna and Mina go to get acorns as a substitution for corn to grind. They meet an indian man, woman, and a girl. Mina and the girl trade Mina's hair for the girl's beaded belt. Then, Mina goes to Papa. What was interesting in this chapter was when Mina met the indians. What I did not like was when Anna left Mina with the indians.

Chapter 15 - This chapter was about when the Verein soldiers meet the indians. Everyone was scared. Then, one of the soldiers and one of the indians both shoot a black bear. Everyone was surprised when the indian recognized Mina. Then, they ate the bear's meat. In this chapter I like when Mina recognizes the indian. What I did not like was when they shot the black bear.

Chapter 16 - This chapter is when Mina, Papa, and their neighbors all built a house for Papa and Mina. Anna and Mina go to get fresh water for everyone to drink. Then, Papa poured water in his head. All the men started acting like a bunch of schoolboys at their pranks again. They finally finished the house, and Mina put in the new house the clock that Opa had given them. Then, Papa tells Mina that they need money to buy a milk cow, so he is going to New Braunfels to haul supplies for the Verein. Mina then has to stay with the Kaufmann family. I did not like when Papa had to leave Mina with the Kaufmann's. What I like was that they finally finished their house.

In chapter 15 Mina saw an Indian. This was the same Indian that she had seen on her birthday.
Chapter 16 is about Papa built a house for them to live.
Chapter 17 is when Frau Kaufmann was sick so Mina went to live with the Bickenbachs. Mina was a little nervous about staying with a new family for a while until Frau Kaufmann was feeling better.

CHAPTER 13 - In chapter 13 Mina & Anna wake up in the middle of the night
& find a panther then papa tries to shoot it . But It runs away and does
not come back to there camp spot. In the morning they Finally come to New Braufels.
Then they find a ferry on the other side of the river.

CHAPTER 14 - In the morning they ride across the ferry. The next day was her eleventh
birthday . Mina & Anna go to gather nuts , when they see an indian . Anna runs away
screaming . Then Mina makes a trade with him ( Her hair for his blue beaded belt). And
Mina tells her father.

CHAPTER 15 - They come to indians and soilders fighting over a bear they both killed
at the same time. But when Mina comes up to the same indian , him and his tribe
leave . And the soilders keep the bear.
