chapter9-Is when a docter comes to visit , bringing food and medicine. Minas mom gets sick and the doctor gives her medicine but it dosent help and minas mama passes away. chapter10-Is when papa and mina and HerrKaufman, win a bid to have a wagon. chapter11-is when they camp out and baby Elizabeth dies from the bad fever it is very sad and they build her a grave. chapter12-is when they reach where they were going and there are many cultures and they meet another german family and they eat and stay with them.
Chapter 9 was sad because Mina's mother dies. The medicine given to her doesn't help. In chapter 10, I was worried that they would be stuck on the beach because it seemed like no one or no boat was coming to pick them up. In chapter 11, I thought it was funny when Mina's father killed the prarie chicken with a double barrel shotgun. In chapter 12, I liked when the lady from the German family let them stay there. That was nice of her to let strangers stay with her.
CH 11: I think it would be scary when you are in a wagon with only three people and death as your companion. I think it was exiting when Mina saw the first two trees in miles and that was cool when they saw the town they wanted to go to. If I was there I would be very exited.
CH 12: I think it was sad because at the end in a way it said that the two children were skinny, but when they met a women, she was nice to give them some milk that Mina and her friend like. It was getting darker by the minute. It was nice of the lady to have the strangers to her home and sleep there, so the children can sleep downstairs.
chapter 13- One night Mina saw something in the tree. Mina woke up Anna but Anna heard nothing in the tree. At first Mina thought it was an indian, but it was not because there was a fire light above the tree. Mina saw two eyes in the fire light and nothing else. Mina had a horn and when she blew into it, nobody came.
CH 15- Mina sees the Indian she saw on her B-DAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CH 16- Papa is building a cabin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CH 17, 18, 19 and 20 = It was scary wen Mina's dad had a cold and when his head was really hot and it was brave of Mina to go in the wood to get the indian medicine for her dad. I think it would be very tiring to walk back to the cabin, but she did it any ways. Mina new the indian friends that was the indian girl and her mom and dad. That she new it will protect her from the other indians, so that she could get the medicine for her dad. At the end her dad is fine.
Ch 16- Papa has to leave. Mina stayed with the Kaufmans.( I already did ch. 16, but I'm adding to it.)
Ch 17- Frau Kaufman was so sick Mina had to go to the Bickenbaches. Papa came home, but he was sick.
Ch 18- Mina went to get Dr. Schubert, but he wouldn't come until he ate his supper. Mina had a dream. When she woke up she knew she had to get the Shaman.

Ch 19- Mina got Lisette to watch Papa while she went to get the Shaman. The Chief and Shaman came back with Mina.
Ch 20- The Shaman made tea for Papa and he got better. Lisette was helping Mina put on a new dress, when Papa asked Lisette to marry him and she said yes!
